Each Caturday we feature a Cat Box Classics Caturday Cat of the Week. It's here cats (and their companions) tell their stories. How did they meet? What makes their relationship special? Here's Betty
How did you meet?
Betty is a rescue-cat who was found in a back alley of a nearby town, and came to us at one-year old. She's very eccentric, and was willingly subserviant to our orange tabby-cat Buddy when she arrived. When Buddy grew old and passed over the rainbow bridge, Betty became Queen of the House overnight. Now she has a little black rescue kitty-in-waiting named Luna, and everything Luna knows about being a cat she has learned from Betty. Luna mimics Betty's every move.
What Makes Betty Special?
Betty apparently was once an outdoor cat, but we live where there are predators so we keep our cats indoors. Still, when spring is here, Betty makes it clear that the Queen needs to inspect the grounds, so we put a harness on her and she takes us for a walk. We have also built two portholes in our home, so that they can spy at all hours. Betty also likes to sing a sad, sad lullaby each night when we go to bed. Luna is slowly learning the song.
How has Betty Changed Your Life?
I could never have survived the Pandemic without Betty and Luna. I work at home, in a daylight basement office, and when I walk downstairs to start my workday, both kitties follow me down there, and punch the clock to sit in the sunshine. It is their duty to stick by me as I put in my work time, though there is a bit of play in the meantime. Betty also moonlights as a yoga instructor - she's especially good at Supta Matsyendrasana. And I love Betty's forlorn bedtime serenade.
